Review of the Farmville Facebook Application

By Bruce Carl

Facebook has hundreds of millions of profiles. Facebook gives profiles a ability to reconnect with long lost friends and relatives. Additionally, Facebook provides profiles the ability to play games and share gifts with other Facebook users. Facebook games are called applications. A popular application is Farmville.

Farmville allows Facebook profiles to begin a farm. Facebook users start Farmville Facebook application on a farm measuring eight blocks by eight blocks. Farmville Facebook application profiles can start planting crops, buy animals, or even add decorations.

Farmville allows profiles the chance to purchase season/holiday geared decorations. Near Halloween season, Farmville sells decorations like a "spooky" tree, tombstones, and/or a haunted house. Near Thanksgiving, available decorations include things like leaf piles, red and yellow maple trees, hay stacks, and hay piles. Season themed decorations allow users to further personalize their farms.

Users generate money by planting and harvesting crops. Planting crops takes a little waiting. Crops are required to planted before they can be harvested. For example, Strawberries take four hours to grow and Pumpkins take 8 hours. Once ready for harvesting, you will earn money from each type of crop.

Earning money gives you the opportunity to go to the next level. In addition, gaining cash allows you to purchase more expensive crops. Keep in mind, increasingly more costly plants require additional time to grow. But, these increasingly more expensive plants are worth additional money.

Farmville allows users to procure helpful farm equipment. Harvesting, plowing, and planting crops can be a time consuming process. Buying better farm equipment will cut the extent of time the part of the game requires.

Users can earn experience points and money by helping their friends' farms. Users are able to give neighbor invitations to their Facebook friends. Every friend that joins becomes your neighbor. Users have the ability to go over to their neighbors' plantations. Users are allowed to gain points by helping run off foxes and/or fertilizing plants.

Just as Facebook gives an opportunity to talk to friends, Facebook applications provide a fun way to relax. Facebook's Farmville will let you buy crops, watch them grow, and to sell them. Selling crops allows you to earn money for farm equipment, decorations, animals, and even to buy a bigger farm. Whether you are a farmer, have a hobby farm, or always wanted to feel like a farmer, Farmville provides hours of enjoyment.
